UNION GLASHÜTTE/SA.
A concentration of expertise and passion: the UNION GLASHÜTTE brand of watches portrays a powerful image - that of fine German watchmaking together with today's guarantees of quality and price. Whether unostentatious and noble, with refined detail or a bold design, the latest mechanical models for ladies and gentlemen bear the hallmark of the brand's creator, Johannes Dürrstein, who founded UNION GLASHÜTTE over 100 years ago.

Watches which have everything to make them accurate and beautiful but nothing to make them expensive – salesman Johannes Dürrstein's founded Glashütter Uhrenfabrik Union Dürrstein & Co in 1893 with this motto. Because only the fortunate few could afford the expensive models from the pinnacle of German watchmaking art, Dürrstein decided to manufacture his own watches – with the same Glashütter quality, but at a reduced price. The keystone for traditional German watchmaking was set. With large amounts of diligence, discipline and not afraid of new approaches, Dürrstein fulfilled the aims he had set out for his company. A pioneering spirit still defines the Union Glashütte brand today, as they embrace the future with modern, mechanical watches – with a level of quality to satisfy the high demands of the modern-day watch wearer.

The collection has five ranges for ladies and gentlemen, with models to suit both the beginner and the aficionado of exclusive mechanical watches. These timepieces will win the hearts of connoisseurs of German mechanical watches with their profiled and timeless elegance and their exceptional value for money - both in Union Glashütte's native Germany and further afield. With their beautifully crafted detail and their exceptionally designed internal parts, they are not least a homage to Johannes Dürrstein, who had a very particular personal trait: he not only possessed an obsession for quality, but he was also a self-declared aesthete. Without his passion for the arts and his love of detail, the magnificently decorated pocket watch cases would never have seen the light of day; the same cases that, in Dürrstein's lifetime, were to mark a high point in refined timepiece finishing. With this in mind, the movements of the new Union Glashütte watches are finished and decorated to satisfy even the most demanding.

While respecting the traditions of the brand and the label 'Made in Glashütte', but also with one eye firmly looking to the future, the Swatch Group is putting the traditional Union Glashütte watch brand back on track more than 100 years after it was founded. Cooperation with Switzerland is nothing new in the history of Union Glashütte: as proprietor of the Dresden-based watch wholesaler Dürrstein & Compagnie, Johannes Dürrstein put his contacts with Swiss watch manufacturers to good use - he remained Germany's largest importer of Swiss watches for a long time.
